Abigail Rumpp
Medical Illustrator
Hi! I’m Abigail (or Abbi!), and I am a medical & biological illustrator based in Knoxville, Tennessee. I attended McKendree University in Illinois as a student athlete, earning degrees in both Biology and Biopsychology. I am currently a second year graduate student at Johns Hopkins University in the Art As Applied to Medicine program.
My goal is to help clients create accurate, visually stunning pieces that illustrate complex topics in the sciences. I specialize in patient education, editorial illustrations, 2D/3D animations, and anatomical/molecular illustrations.
I love telling engaging stories within my work — I utilize dynamic visuals to create a captivating learning experience for a project’s audience. I create my work to resonate with everyone, ensuring that it’s inclusive to audiences of any background, education level, or age.
When I’m not in the studio, I can be found in the pool, baking sweet treats, tending to my plants, or relaxing with a book/video game!

Extensive research and collaboration with subject matter experts at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine departments including Gynecologic Oncology, Otolarynology, Molecular Biology and Genetics, Neurology, and Diagnostic Radiology. Additional collaboration with content experts from the Johns Hopkins Center for Bio-Engineering and Design (CBID), and the National Aquarium in Baltimore.
