Bringing science to life through art and storytelling.
Meet the Artist

Terry Nguyen
Terry Nguyen graduated from Rowan University with double majors in Biomedical Art and Visualization and Studio Art with a specialization in Graphic Design. During her undergraduate years, she also concurrently completed her B.A. in Music (classical piano) and concentration in pre-medicine. After graduating, she decided to further study traditional art at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and The Plastic Club in Philadelphia. Today, she is pursuing her Master of Arts in Medical and Biological Illustration at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.
Her interest in the cross-section of creative arts and science was sparked at a young age by flipping through pharmaceutical and healthcare magazines that her parents received. The visual elements within the magazine fascinated her, and she relied on them to understand the narratives during “story time” with her parents. This core childhood experience ignited her passion for scientific/medical art and eventually served as a catalyst for her interest in medical and biological illustration. Her goal as a medical illustrator is to leverage her interdisciplinary background and formal art training to develop innovative, meaningful, and aesthetically striking 2D and 3D media that both inform the audience and initiate scientific discussions.
